Siena

A small town south of Florence, Siena's uniform earth-colored brick buildings is the source of the color we call sienna.

This is Karen's favorite Italy town. It has a large central square, where annual horse races are held. A tower at the palace affords visitors a clear panorama of the lush green farmlands that surround the town.

Siena is filled with narrow, cobblestoned and crowded streets - which are perfect for exploration. The town is still surrounded by its city walls; strolling along the wall exposes a number of pretty gardens and clear springs.
